"it's pretty damn good"

Eddie Seville is from New England but his music comes from about two thousand miles further west. "Ragged Hearts" is an album of modern americana from a hard- bitten world where pickup trucks throw up clouds of dust and abused women mainline to dull the senses against drunken beatings, all to a country tune . . . it's pretty damn good !

COUNTRY MUSIC PEOPLE
"powerful vocals and sharp lyrics"

The new CD is packed with eleven original country songs of high quality and Seville demonstrates that he knows how to tell a good story using country songs. Eddie Seville's CD has many gems with no filler and also some important songs like "Ashes to Ashes", a chilling nightmare tale of abuse and drugs set to a pretty country melody ... a five star song.  Seville is a natural storyteller with powerful vocals and sharp lyrics.

LONESOME HIGHWAY
"a powerful piece of work"

These eleven self-written songs are all in the tradition of painting pictures and telling stories, often of hard times and hard faces. Seville co-produced the album and gathered a set of finely attuned players including Augie Meyers of Doug Sahm fame, as well as some evocative steel guitar that give this robust roots / country rock it's heart and soul ... "The Last Train" and "Save My Soul" attest to the turmoil that permeates these songs, though that is offset by the energy and assurance of the delivery which makes all these songs highly listenable.

BLUES MATTERS
"many magical moments of sheer brilliance"

Based in Connecticut, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Eddie Seville has further enhanced his considerable reputation with this outstanding third full-length album. It opens to the pulsating folk- rock of "A Crooked Mile" with it's superb mandolin introduction and backing, then slows down with "The Queen Of Kerosene" .. "the goddess of gasoline",  the latter is memorable for its iconic lines, "you're a blow torch in the dark, a powder keg on a spark, you're the one that I blame when my heart goes up in flame" ... beautifully arranged and empathetically written ballads form the staple diet of Seville's repertoire and comparisons with Springtseen, Dylan and the UK's Sean Taylor are inevitable but not completely exaggerated given the many magical moments of sheer brilliance.

BILLY BOP
"among those tunes you'll find gems"

I traded my soul, for a bag of fools gold” ... It could be a nice title for an album but it became “Ragged Hearts” instead. Still, it’s part of the lyrics of leading track “A Crooked Mile” on the new Eddie Seville album. Among those tunes you’ll find gems like "The Hardest Thing To Do" (with some Mariachi influence), “Blind Love” and “The Last Train”. Eddie Seville might be a noble unknown to many of you, but he earned his kudos over the years in bands like “Steel Rodeo”, “The Vibro ~ Kings” and “The Bandoleros”. On "Ragged Hearts", Seville brings you a collection of Alt- Country, Americana and standard country tunes that fit the style of the music made in the area around San Antonio, San Marcos and Austin.

ROCKTIMES
"developed into a true rocket"

The music of Eddie Seville is a sophisticated rock that is marked by country and blues. Handmade, so to speak which, as one quickly finds out - is very cleverly arranged. There are also strong lyrics which, (even if they are not autobiographical) are so convincing that one would automatically believe they are. "I'm Pacing Myself" as well as "A Crooked Mile" and "The Hardest Thing To Do" are stories from the life of the protagonist which always go deep under the skin. I must admit that it took two or three runs but then this disc developed into a true rocket and exploded so beautifully in my head that I am very much in the mood to dive, not only in the solo past of Eddie Seville, but also in the bands in which he participates.

LONESTAR TIME
"a tasty mix of alternative country and roots rock"

Coming from New England, singer / songwriter / producer and active band leader Eddie Seville has several small realities on the eastern "coastal" scene with "The Vibro ~ Kings" and "Steel Rodeo" among his many commitments, including a solo career that led him to record this amazing gem entitled "Ragged Hearts" ... a tasty mix of alternative country and roots rock that's inspired and vibrant with a freshness few can boast.

TWANGRI- LA
"solid and thought provoking songwriting"

Very nice sounding well produced album by Eddie Seville, a multi-instrumentalist singer / songwriter from Connecticut. Seville, a veteran of the music business, has played and collaborated with a number of artists over the years. His music meanders from classic country to roots rock to rock and roll. One thing that is always a constant is solid and thought provoking songwriting. "The Last Train" is an anthem in the making, a Zevon- esque tune that is very intelligent and most importantly, a great song.
